Pencil grasp… let’s talk about it ✏️

When do we fix it and when do we leave it alone?

✏️I’m not jumping in to change a grasp if:
• it’s working
• they’re not complaining about pain or getting tired
• they can keep up in class
• their writing is readable

✏️BUT—I start to pay attention if:
• they’re avoiding writing
• their hand tires out quickly
• they’re pressing super hard or using a lot of extra effort
• it’s affecting speed or legibility

The goal isn’t a “perfect” grasp…it’s function and participation.

Sometimes it’s not about fixing—
it’s about asking, “is this actually getting in their way?”
